Lantern Festival is a very romantic festival. In Taiwan, there is a traditional custom that if unmarried women pick green onions and vegetables, they will get marry with a good husband. It is said, “Stealing green onions, marrying good husband” “stealing vegetables, having a good husband”. In traditional operas, Chen San and Wu Niang met and fell in love at first sight when they enjoying the lanterns; princess Lechang and Xu Deyan reunited on Lantern Festival night; in “Sing Lantern Riddles”, the relationship between Yuwen Yan and Ying Niang was also determined on this day. Therefore, Lantern Festival is also called Chinese Valentines Day.
